29 Sep How I Balance School, Work and a Blog
Many find post-secondary stressful because of the workload received on a weekly basis. There are so many learning curves and challenges every day. It can be tough sometimes. Imagine having to go to school full-time and on top of that work 20-30 hours a week. When is there even time to do homework? Well to be quite frank, there is not a lot of time but I still manage my time well and get all my assignments done. But if you think that is hard, you’re going to laugh when I tell you what else I have going on the side. I also have a blog on the side that I spend any ounce of free time on.
You think I am crazy right? But I have to pay the bills somehow, and the blog? Well, it’s my passion and my future. Not everyone has an RESP or parents that can support them through school. In my family, I am the youngest of seven children, so it would be tough to support everyone through their post-secondary education. That is completely fine, I have no problem supporting myself through school. It can be tough at times, but I have gained a good work ethic and responsibility in doing so. My parents immigrated here for me to have a better life so I don’t have time to slack.
My ambition really comes from proving everyone wrong and pushing my limits. I have been told that I am an old soul, and honestly, I am super excited to graduate college and start working in my future career. I enjoy spending time learning about business and gaining skills that will further me in my blog and career. This is why, I have a full workload on my plate, and I am not complaining… okay, you might hear me complain sometimes, but I am human alright.
How do I manage to keep myself on track? It’s a little complicated really because I am a disorganized mess. I have a job that has shifts starting as early as 5 in the morning so that I can go to work before class. I train myself to persevere and keep pushing my boundaries, because there is a rainbow at the end of all this struggle. I love to watch motivational videos and stories that help motivate me to excel. Honestly, I am very lucky to be born in Canada and to have all the opportunities that I have been given. I find that it is important to remember what you are working for, and to try your best. If you are genuine and hardworking, then you will be prepared for when these opportunities arrive because there is no such thing as luck.
My advice to anyone that is in a similar situation to me, is to remember why you are juggling everything that you are and keep going. It’s like going to the gym, if you want the results of a fit body, then you have put in the work. Those 6 pack abs won’t come overnight, it will come to you after you put in the sweat and hard work. It all depends on who you are and what you can handle as well, I always like to keep myself busy or else I will get bored very easily. Know yourself and learn what your limits are so that you don’t over exhaust yourself. Trust me, I have been there and I took the time to get to know myself and what I can handle. Don’t be afraid to say no to people at the cost of your mental health or ability to accomplish the task.
