Empower'em Inc. is a federally incorporated nonprofit. We take the privacy of our community seriously, especially given the personal and sensitive nature of what participants share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how to contact us if you have questions.

When you apply for Our Way Forward, sign up for our newsletter, or reach out to us, we may collect your name and email address, your city and province, information about your racial or cultural background (provided voluntarily for matching purposes), what brings you to the program, and how you heard about us. We do not collect payment information. The program is free.
We use your information to review your application and match you with a mentor or mentee, communicate with you about the program and community events, send our newsletter if you've opted in, and improve our programming over time. We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We share it within our small team only as needed to run the program.
What's shared in your mentorship sessions and peer support spaces stays there. We don't share what you say in community spaces without your permission. This is a core principle of how Empower'em operates, not just a policy.
We understand that some of what you share with us, including your cultural background, identity, and personal circumstances, is sensitive. We treat it with care and use it only for the purpose you shared it: helping us match you thoughtfully and build programming that reflects your community.
We use standard tools to manage applications and communications. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting access to our small team and using secure platforms. We do not retain your information beyond what's needed to run the program and maintain community relationships.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information at any time. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time. To do any of these, email us at info@empowerem.ca.
